Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8×8 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas.
  • Stir in the melted butter and brown sugar until well combined.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract and eggs until smooth.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Let cool before cutting into squares and serving.
