  • 4 pieces croissants, torn into pieces Feel free to use day-old croissants.
  • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) Fresh is best; frozen will work in a pinch.
  • 4 pieces eggs Provides structure and richness.
  • 1 cup milk Whole milk adds creaminess; dairy-free alternatives work too.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Can reduce if less sweetness is desired.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Brings all the flavors together.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Adds layers of flavor.
  • to taste powdered sugar for dusting (optional) For presentation.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  • Tear croissants into bite-sized pieces and scatter them into the baking dish. Add the mixed berries.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until smooth.
  • Pour the egg mixture evenly over the croissants and berries, gently pressing down.
  • Allow the mixture to soak for 10-15 minutes.

Baking

  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and puffed.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Don't skip the soaking step to allow the croissants to absorb the custard. Use quality ingredients for best results.
