  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Provides creaminess; can be replaced with Greek yogurt for a lower-calorie version.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For sautéing the chicken.
  • 1 tablespoon butter Adds richness.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Essential for flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme Perfect herb to complement the flavors.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Essential for flavor enhancement.
  • Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish Adds freshness to the dish.

Instructions
 

Cooking the Chicken

  • Season chicken breasts with a generous sprinkle of salt and pepper.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil and heat until hot.
  • Cook the chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and fully cooked. Remove chicken and set aside.

Preparing the Mushrooms

  • In the same skillet, melt the butter, then add sliced mushrooms.
  • Sauté for about 4-5 minutes until browned, then add minced garlic and dried thyme, cooking for about a minute until fragrant.

Deglazing

  • Pour in the Marsala wine, scraping the pan to release browned bits, and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

Cooking the Orzo

  • Add chicken broth and bring to a gentle simmer.
  • Stir in the orzo and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender.

Finishing the Dish

  • Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream.
  • Return the chicken to the skillet and warm through, adjusting seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.

Serving

  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Notes

For best results, don't rush the cooking process. Allowing the chicken to brown and the mushrooms to sweat will deepen the flavor. Leftovers can be reheated with a splash of broth to maintain creaminess.
