Ingredients
  

Sauce Base

  • 1/4 cup Sour cream Adds creaminess to the sauce.
  • 1/4 cup Mayonnaise Enhances texture.
  • 1 can Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce Main flavor component.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced or roasted, deepens flavor.
  • 1 tbsp Fresh lime juice Adds brightness.
  • 1/2 tsp Smoked paprika Brings smokiness.
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Adds earthy warmth.
  • 1/2 tsp Salt Balances flavors.
  • 1 tbsp Olive oil Optional for consistency.

Preparation

  • Prep garlic and chipotles. If using roasted garlic, toss cloves in olive oil and roast until soft.

Blending

  • In a blender, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, chipotle peppers (with some adobo sauce), garlic, lime juice, smoked paprika, cumin, and salt.
  • Blend on high until smooth and creamy.

Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning if needed. Add lime juice for more zing or extra chipotle for heat.

Consistency Check

  • If the sauce is too thick, drizzle in olive oil and blend again until desired consistency is reached.

Storage

  • Transfer to an airtight container and chill in the fridge for at least one hour before serving.

Notes

This sauce is perfect for a variety of dishes and can be stored for up to a week. Allowing it to chill enhances the flavors.
