  • 6 large Eggs Ensure they are at room temperature.
  • 2 cups Milk Whole milk recommended for richness.
  • 1/2 cup Sugar Adjust sweetness to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Essential for flavor; don’t skip this!
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt Balances the sweetness.
  • Powdered sugar for serving Powdered sugar Optional, for presentation.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • Place the torn croissant pieces into the greased baking dish, evenly distributed.
  • Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the croissant pieces.

Mixing

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until combined.
  • Pour the egg mixture over the croissants and chocolate chips, pressing down lightly to soak.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and the custard is set.
  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Sprinkle with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

Use day-old croissants for better soaking. Adding extra chocolate chips, nuts, or berries can elevate the dish.
