Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients before you start.

  • Shape the mixture into patties, making them thicker to compensate for shrinkage while cooking.

Cooking

  • Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook the patties for 5-7 minutes on each side, until fully cooked (internal temperature of 165°F).
  • Toast the burger buns while the patties are cooking.

Assembly

  • Place the cooked patty on the bun, then layer with lettuce, tomato slices, avocado, and optional sour cream or yogurt.
